Norka Luque has always deemed music her destiny. This 30-year-old talented singer was born in Caracas, Venezuela, on February 7th, 1986. As a baby, her parents used to get her to go to sleep to the sound of music, and as a young child she delighted in singing, taking part in several singing competitions such as “The Golden Voice” and the Venezuelan folk music contest “School Festival of Gaitas”.
Norka Luque has never stopped singing, nor has she ever stayed too far from this big passion of hers. She remembers constantly thinking about music while studying Business in France and working in the Banking sector in Monaco. During those years she sang as part of a funk and rock band called “Bad Moon Rising”, an experience that prepared her for her current career as a soloist.
After relocating to Florida, Norka Luque dabbled in culinary arts, fashion, and marketing, but soon directed all of her energies towards developing a singing career. Her big break came when she met renowned musical producer Emilio Estefan Jr., who agreed to hear her sing and invited her to his studio to hone her talents and refine her interpretation skills, with the help of a professional team of producers including the Gaitan Brothers, Archie Peña and Luigi Giraldo.
In 2011, after 3 years of hard work, Norka released her first single, “Como lo haces tú”, which got her a nomination for a “Premios Lo Nuestro” award for Best Pop Female Artist of the Year. In early 2012 her second single “Milagro” was released. She produced this song in several different arrangements. Its Salsa version held the No. 1 spot on Venezuela’s Record Report for 14 weeks, while its Dance version in English reached the No. 11 spot on the Dance Club Billboard. An Urban remix version, a mixture of Caribbean, reggae, and Mediterranean sounds, produced in collaboration with El Cata, the Dominican urban artist, followed thereafter and became a major hit in the US, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico. Following “Milagro”, Norka released a third single, “Ese es mi cariño”.
Norka suffered a severe health crisis in 2014 due to epilepsy from which she has suffered since 2007. Following brain surgery in 2015, this talented singer has gotten her career back on track, releasing her last single, “Tomorrowland”, this past April.
